Inserting Citations into Microsoft Office

Now we have Zotero prepared to insert citations into Microsoft Word. After doing the above steps, open Microsoft Word and you will notice you have a new option in your toolbar.

To use Zotero, click on the new menu option called "Zotero" as seen in the screenshot above. This will provide you will with all the options Zotero has for Word.

To add an in-text citation, all you need to do is place the cursor where you need the citation and click the "Add/Edit Citation." Depending on what type of citation style you are using (in this case the screenshot is using Chicago), a in-text citation will be created and a search bar for Zotero will popup. The search bar allows you to search your Zotero citations for the exact citation you are looking for. Start typing the title of the citation and you will see suggestions display. Click the one you are looking for to insert it into your document.
